Teachers Tell Union Bullies: Keep Your Hands Off Our Lunch Money!
Bullying doesn't stop on the playground. It's not just an issue for kids, either. For too many teachers, intimidation shows up in the workplace, coming from union leaders that are supposed to have their back.
In a recent op-ed, the Center for Independent Employees (CIE) makes the case for teachers to stand up to these union bullies — better known as the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers.
"Educators hand over hundreds of dollars in dues every year, only to watch the national unions spend their money on political causes and ideological campaigns that often have little to do with helping teachers in their classrooms," states Dan Remmenga, CIE's Executive Director. "Sometimes, the unions wander far beyond education altogether."
The good news: Teachers don't have to fork over their hard-earned money or give up control over their local school districts. Those who are tired of the union bullies do have an alternative.
